Domain NameA domain name is your service or organization or company's name on the internet. (i.e. yahoo.com, lycos.com, gravion.net)
If your website offers your free domain name, DON'T take it unless you're 100% clear of what you're getting.
In the current market, the domain name fees are running lower and lower everyday. Basically, you can buy a domain name for about 8 bucks a year. If you have your webhost purchase it for you, make sure YOU own the domain name and YOU still own the domain name even if you move to another webhost and stop using the current one who paid for your domain name.
As far as domain name selections, please refer to our tutorial on selecting good domain names. The rule of thumb is to pick something descriptive or unique. If you run an online store, either give it a distinguished name (i.e. Yahoo!) or something that relates to the product you're selling (i.e. goodlyrics.com) |
